WWW FAQs: How do I test the performance of my website?

2006-06-28: For website stress testing, I recommend JMeter, a free, open-source program for web server performance testing. JMeter can simulate any level of load, and it's useful with all types of websites. Yes, JMeter is written in Java and it's part of the Apache project, but that doesn't mean your website has to use Java or run on Apache. JMeter is perfectly capable of testing the performance of a Microsoft IIS Server.
