Sending reports by email

Wusage is also capable of delivering its reports as attractively formatted plain-text email messages. To take advantage of this feature, you will need to set the mailto, mailfrom, and mailserver options in your configuration file. In the user interface, these options are found on the Email Reporting Options page, which is accessible from the main configuration editing page. Note that the exact format of the email reports can be modified using the output customization options which have a separate set of options for the content of email messages.

A typical setup for these options might look like this:

mailto yourboss@yoursite.com
mailfrom yourname@yoursite.com
mailserver mail.yoursite.com

Note that the mailserver setting depends on the configuration at your particular site. However, mail is a common name for the mail server machine in many organizations. If in doubt, check the email settings in your web browser or other mail client, or ask your system administrator.

It is possible to individually turn on and off the inclusion of each report in the email message. This is controlled by the following configuration file options, which are more conveniently available through the web-based user interface.

By default, all of the reports are included, except for the referrersbydocument report which is typically very large.

The exact formatting of the email can be controlled using the output customization features.
