Usage:
apachecookies
VERY IMPORTANT:
This option is ONLY for use with the Apache server, versions
1.2 and newer, and only when the Apache server is configured to log a
user-identifying "cookie" as an extension after other fields in the
common log format, using the mod_usertrack module.
If you are using an older version of the Apache server, or you prefer
to continue using the older separate CookiesLog approach,
see the command line options section for
more information about the -ac option which can be
used to analyze such older Apache cookie logs.
If your web server logs were generated by Apache 1.2 or later, and
you are using the mod_usertrack Apache module, and you
have included this information in your log file according to
our server configuration tips, then you
can use the apachecookies option to make Wusage aware
of this. This has the following benefits:
- Trails and visits are
determined based on the "cookie" rather than the site.
- The users report is generated, if you
specify the
users option in your
configuration file. The users report is similar to the
sites report, except that it is based
on cookies (unique identifying tags stored and returned by
web browsers on each visit) rather than on IP addresses (which are
not completely unique to individual people in many cases).
