A Partial List of Wusage 7.0 Features

In addition to all the great features of Wusage 6.0, Wusage 7.0 will add the following features, among others still to be completed.

As part of our "no vaporware" policy, all of the features listed here have already been implemented. More are coming, and we'll let you know as soon as we are 100% sure that they will be included!

  • Our new report macro language allows you to completely control the format and structure of reports. Place reports in a single file, or in a separate file; change the wording of our new executive summary report or remove it altogether with ease. Start by making small modifications to our own standard report macros, then see what you can do!
  • "Rewrite rules" for URLs, sites and more. These are extremely useful when documents have been moved on the web server. Make the previous and current locations "count" as the same document!
  • Support for sorting your log files on the fly. Do you have log files which are not in chronologically ascending order? Wusage 7.0 will be able to deal with them effectively.
  • Year-to-year comparison charts are now available. Easily see seasonal patterns and annual growth.
  • In addition to access counts and bytes-transferred information, visit counts are now available for documents, visitor sites, web browsers, operating systems and more. Take advantage of our improved visit modeling and reporting to produce more accurate statistics.
  • Our new "file types" report breaks down HTML, GIF, JPEG and more.
  • The new Entry Pages report reveals what page your visitors typically access first. Easily "drill down" to a list of referring URLs on other sites for each entry page!
  • The Exit Pages report reveals where your users chose to leave the site.
  • Improved graphics. 3D antialiased pie charts and an enhanced bar chart legend improve the presentation of your statistics and make it easier to interpret information.
  • Alphabetical order, sorting by accesses, bytes or visits, and the inclusion of bytes-transferred information can now be set on a per-report basis.
  • Multiple log file sources can be specified. Want to automatically download log files by FTP from four different mirror sites? No problem!
  • The new Operating Systems report breaks down the most popular operating systems, revealing the percentage of users who prefer Microsoft Windows (tm), MacOS (tm) and the X Window System.
  • Easily generate daily, weekly, monthly, and now quarterly and annual reports as part of a single Wusage configuration. Just one run produces them all!
  • Reasonable, easily understood filenames for all reports and other generated files for easier integration with your own software.
  • Support for WUFTPD log file analysis.
  • All reports have been moved to individual files.
  • An "executive summary" report has been added for managers in a hurry.
  • "Regular expressions" are permitted wherever patterns are currently accepted. Our pattern syntax is still available.
  • Negative matches are allowed for both regular expressions and patterns. This is an easy way to count, for instance, all URLs that do not contain the suffixes .gif and .jpg.
  • In addition to the FTP log file access supported by Wusage 6.0, Wusage 7.0 adds log file access via HTTP. Our special "every web page is a directory" model makes HTTP log file browsing just as straightforward as FTP browsing.
  • Fast, multiple-process DNS lookups, with a user-configurable time limit for each attempt and a disk-based cache of previous DNS lookup information that lasts as long as you wish.
  • A 7-day moving average is provided in the accesses by day report for easier interpretation.
  • HTTP "cookies" are supported in the W3C log format (IIS 4.0), as well as the existing Apache support.
