Description

Unfortunately, some web servers do not keep log files in chronologically sorted order. That is, an individual log file might contain entries for March 2nd before the entries for March 1st.

When this occurs, the Wusage user interface will report the problem and suggest the use of the Sort Log Files First (sortlogs) option.

New in Wusage 7.0, the Sort Log Files First (sortlogs) option instructs the program to sort the entire set of log data before attempting to analyze it. Sorting your log data requires extra time and disk space. Please ensure that you have enough space for a separate copy of your log data in your temporary files directory. Do not turn on this option unless you suspect your logs are not already sorted.

Important Note: if you have several separate log files which do not overlap in time, such as logs from mirror sites, you do not need to use this option. This option is only needed when individual log files are not internally sorted in chronological order.
