WebLater Introduction & FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

"What is WebLater?"

WebLater watches your Windows clipboard. Every time you copy a URL to the clipboard, WebLater makes a note of it. Later, when you are ready to follow that link, just pop up WebLater and pick it from the list!

"Does WebLater work with my applications?"

WebLater works with any standard Windows application. When you select text and copy it to the clipboard, WebLater is notified, and checks to see if that text is a URL. If it is, WebLater holds onto it for future reference.

"Does WebLater work with my web browser?"

WebLater will automatically detect most Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer versions. WebLater communicates with your web browser using Microsoft's "DDE" technology, or by launching a new browser if none is currently running.

"What operating systems does WebLater work with?"

Right now, there are two versions of WebLater: one for Windows 3.1 users, and one for all Windows 95 and Windows NT users.

"How do I follow my URLs now that I've got them?"

Windows 95 and NT 4.0 or better: WebLater's icon appears in the system tray, which is at the bottom of your screen, to the right of the task bar. Just click the left mouse button on the WebLater icon to bring up the full list. Or, if you just want to follow the latest URL, click the right mouse button to do that right away.

Windows 3.1 and NT 3.51 (or older): WebLater appears as a "minimized" application icon. Double-click on the minimized icon to pop up the list of URLs.

"How much does it cost?"

WebLater costs $15 US per copy. Just click on the REGISTER button in the WebLater dialog box for complete registration details. You have 30 days to evaluate the software before it is necessary to register.

"Why is WebLater in my startup group?"

WebLater is only useful if it is running when you copy URLs to your clipboard. Launching it manually would be an inconvenient extra step, defeating the purpose of the program.

"WebLater can't find my browser. Can I fix this?"

Yes. Click on the Settings button in WebLater and use the Browse button in the settings dialog box to locate your web browser's executable program file.

"Does WebLater have to open a new browser window?"

No, you can turn this off if you prefer that WebLater reuse the current web browser window. Just click on the Settings button in the WebLater dialog box.

"I decided not to buy WebLater. How do I uninstall it?"

WebLater 1.1 or newer

Just select Uninstall from the WebLater submenu of the win95 Start Menu. Win 3.1 users: launch the Uninstall icon in the WebLater program group.

WebLater 1.0

Here are instructions to manually uninstall WebLater under Windows 95 or NT 4.0:

1. From the Start menu, choose Settings, then Taskbar.
2. Click on the Start Menu Programs tab.
3. Click on the Remove button.
4. Scroll the list of groups until you reach StartUp.
5. Double-click on StartUp. WebLater will appear beneath it.
6. Click on WebLater.
7. Click on the Remove button.

For Windows 3.1 and older versions of NT, locate the WebLater icon in the StartUp program group on your desktop, select it, and choose Delete from the file menu.

This removes WebLater from your startup sequence. To remove the program from your hard drive, follow these steps:

1. On your desktop, double-click on My Computer.
2. Double-click on the C drive (if that is where you installed WebLater).
3. Double-click on the Program Files folder.
4. Click once on the WebLater folder to select it.
5. Select Delete from the file menu.

For Windows 3.1 and older versions of NT, locate the WebLater folder using the Windows File Manager. stripe-whores
