2004-04-21: if you are browsing websites and come across
a message that says you are "under investigation" because of what you have
seen on the web, it is almost certainly
an attempt to get your money. These messages usually lead to pages which
claim you can pay a fee to "stop the investigation." Such campaigns exist
because people fall for them. Do your part to put a stop to it: don't fall
for it, and don't go back to any website that displays such
misleading and unethical messages. In the United States, it is perfectly
legal to look at almost anything on the Internet; consult a lawyer if
you are not sure about your specific activities. Of course, the laws
of other countries vary considerably.
