Why mailall.cgi?
Organizations often need to communicate with large numbers of users
by email. Mailing list software, such as GNU
Mailman, is most helpful when readers are expected to manage their own
subscription and receive messages on a frequent basis.
Recently, however, a nonprofit organization asked us for an efficient way
to send a one-time mailing to several thousand members. They didn't need
a solution for managing the list; they already have a member database.
All they needed was the last step. This was the inspiration for
, a simple bulk email solution.

Who should use mailall.cgi?
mailall.cgi is perfectly suited for installation by
any organization's web designer, and can then be operated by anyone with
minimal experience. Installation requires a Linux-based
web hosting account with CGI, Perl and outgoing mail privileges.
mailall.cgi versus other software
Other commercial programs exist to send email to large numbers of people;
most of these are Windows applications that send messages directly, and
many of them are frequently used to deliver spam -- unsolicited commercial
email. Many mail servers automatically delete mail that arrives
directly from addresses that are used for dialup, DSL and cable modem
service. The HTML-heavy style of the messages delivered by many competing
programs is instantly recognized by most users as garbage,
and as quickly deleted. For these reasons, most bulk email programs
are a poor solution for delivering legitimate email to users who have
in fact chosen to receive it.
Can I use mailall.cgi to send spam?
No. The use of mailall.cgi to send spam (unsolicited commercial
email) is forbidden by the terms of our license.
