Linux Software Map: FreeS/WAN IPSEC

  • Version: 1.7
  • Entered-date: 2000-11-18
  • Description: FreeS/WAN provides IPSEC security, encryption and authentication at the IP level of the protocol stack. It is based on the IETF IPSEC work, mainly RFCs 2401-2412 and 2451. FreeS/WAN runs on most architectures Linux supports and interoperates with many other IPSEC implementations. The IPv6 specification requires IPSEC on every machine. The current Linux IPv6 release does not have IPSEC and the current release of FreeS/WAN runs only on IPv4, but work to integrate the two in is in progress.
