Sir Patrick Sheehy, Chair B.A.T Industries PLC 50 Victoria Street SW1H 0NL London, UK
Dear Sir Patrick,
Tobacco use kills about three million people worldwide each year -- most of them hooked by the tobacco industry in their childhood and youth. 60% of smokers begin before they're even 14 years old.
I am joining INFACT and thousands of other consumers worldwide calling on you to:
We ask that you start by discontinuing your worldwide sponsorship of events that appeal to young people-- for example, Kent and Lucky Strike sporting events that dangerously link smoking with physical fitness, health, and adventure.
I am prepared to use my consumer power if needed to change these practices by boycotting your financial services divisions, including Farmers Group, Allied Dunbar, and Eagle Star Insurance. When will B.A.T stop these abusive and deadly practices? I await your prompt reply.
Sincerely,
