Hello, my name is ______ and I'm calling today as an INFACT activist and a concerned consumer.
Cigarette advertising, which visually associates smoking with independence, healthfulness, adventure seeking and physical attractiveness, appears to increase young people's risk of smoking by conveying that smoking has social benefits and that it is far more common than it really is.
I am joining with INFACT and thousands of other consumers worldwide calling on you to stop your aggressive marketing to children and young people around the world and to stop undermining public health efforts, including interfering in public policymaking.
Your parent company, British American Tobacco, can start by discontinuing worldwide sponsorship of sporting events that appeal to young people -- for example, Kent and Lucky Strike sporting events that dangerously link smoking with physical fitness, health and adventure.
I am prepared to use my consumer power if needed to change these practices by boycotting your financial services divisions, including Farmer's Group Insurance. When will British American Tobacco and Brown and Williamson stop these abusive practices?
