Face the Faces

Each year more than 400,000 people in the US, and over three million around the world, die from tobacco-related illnesses. This project presents just a few of the many people who want to share their photos and stories in hope of preventing the tobacco industry from spreading the pain to the next generation.

What You Can Do

INFACT invites you to join its campaign to stop the tobacco industry from marketing its products to children. We invite you to send us photographs of yourself and the loved ones you have lost to the harmful effects of tobacco.

About Face the Faces

INFACT began the "Face the Faces" Photo Project in response to Congressional testimony by a former RJR Nabisco executive that all the people who die each year from tobacco are just "computer-generated numbers."

"Face the Faces" is a collection of photos and stories of people who are suffering or have died from tobacco-related illnesses. Photos have come in from all over the country, and are now part of a powerful display entitled "The Human Toll of Tobacco." These photos graphically demonstrate the human suffering and loss of life caused by the tobacco industry. "Face the Faces" made a memorable debut at the Philip Morris and RJR Nabisco Annual Meetings in the Spring of 1995. The display is now being used in public events calling on tobacco industry leaders and their political allies to account for their role in this preventable epidemic.

The WWW presentation of the Face the Faces project presents a new individual's story every 30 seconds. If your browser does not support such guided tours, just take advantage of the Who's Next? links on each page.

Face the Faces has been chosen for the Best o' c.i.w.announce page.
